Job Role Available: Pet Carer (Part Time) to cover areas between Minehead and Porlock Contract Type: Zero Hour Contract to begin (later option to be full-time plus company vehicle)

Schedule: Flexible, 7 days a week depending on jobs available

We are currently looking for a Pet Carer to join our team and help us continue to provide the best 5* pet care to owners across West Somerset. This vacancy is ideal for someone who would like to work, develop and grow their career around different animals. Most importantly, you must have a huge love for animals and the outdoors. 

You will be CRB/Disclosure checked. References will be required. 18+ years old. Vehicle required. This job vacancy is not suitable for someone looking for temporary work.


Duties will include - 

  • Dog Walking (solo walks and group walking)

  • Home Visits (for dogs, cats, small pets, etc.)

  • Pet Sitting (Day time and overnight)

  • Equine Care (Not essential, only for experienced or qualified persons)

Job Description - 

While carrying out your work you will be:

Mostly working outdoors and in all weathers. Safely and securely collecting, transporting (to and from walk locations) and dropping off dogs in your vehicle. Taking dogs on solo dog walks who have behavioural issues, are recovering from illness/injury or are elderly.

Attending meet and greet consultations. Assessing dog behaviours and body language during trial walks before going onto group walks if appropriate. Taking dogs out on group walks safely (watching out for hazards, behavioural changes, body language, other dogs, farm animals, people, picnics, etc.). Picking up dog waste and disposing of it in Dog Waste Bins.

Cleaning and towelling dogs down and checking for any injuries after walks and report any physical and behaviour changes. Providing pet care in owner's homes for different pets. Depending on the pet, your will be required to check their wellbeing, let them out to go to the toilet, feed/water the pet, give medication, groom and play games with the pet and clean pet enclosures (change bedding, etc). You may be staying in the owner's home during the day or staying over night to provide care for their pets while they are out for the day or on holiday.

Providing Equine care will depend on experience and will involve completing such jobs as mucking out, grooming, feeding, etc.

Additional Details -

Training will be given where necessary.
